Since 1998, the universities of applied sciences (UAS) represent the second pillar of Switzerland’s higher education system, next to the Federal Institutes of Technology and universities. UAS stands for high-quality basic vocational training, synergies with local corporations and adherence to the “learning by doing” didactic approach, all of which give UAS graduates access to interesting work opportunities.
SUPSI is one of the nine UAS recognised by the Swiss Confederation. It fulfils its institutional assignment in an aim of acclaiming university vocational training as a factor contributing to the territory’s economic, social and cultural growth.
SUPSI’s four areas of activity:
- basic training, to obtain a degree recognised in Switzerland and compliant to the European university system: Bachelor degrees (3 years) and Master degrees
- continuing education, enabling professionals to refresh or improve their vocational expertise
- applied research, with development and technology transfer activities, in particular for small and medium-sized enterprises
- consulting services, to support companies and our region
