A scientific delegation from the Union for China Lymphoma Investigators (UCLI), headed by its President Dr. Yuqin Song, was received today at Lugano City Hall by Mayor Michele Foletti, Deputy Mayor Roberto Badaracco and City Councillor Raoul Ghisletta.

The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Med. Franco Cavalli, President of ICML – International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma, and of the Fondazione per l’Istituto Oncologico di Ricerca (IOR), together with two representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Bern, Counsellor Xiaojun Li and Second Secretary Yiliang Tang.

The Chinese UCLI delegation is visiting Lugano to take part in the International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma (ICML), currently being held at the Lugano Congress Centre.

Mayor Michele Foletti recalled that “the ICML Conference has established itself as one of the world’s most important events devoted to the study, diagnosis and treatment of malignant lymphomas, placing Lugano at the centre of the international scientific stage. Events of this kind are essential for the progress of medical science and for spreading knowledge of the latest developments in both technology and therapy. The major breakthroughs in cancer treatment would never have been possible without a determined commitment to fostering an open and collaborative approach.”

The presence in Lugano of the Chinese scientific delegation from UCLI represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation in clinical research, prevention and medical training.
