The City expands the digital offering of electronically signed certificates

The digitalization process promoted by the City of Lugano is proceeding with determination, in line with the strategic goals outlined in the “Lugano Duemilatrenta” development plan.

Starting from July 15, 2025, the Divisione amministrazione generale (General Administration Division) has extended the range of electronically signed certificates issued by the Controllo abitanti (Residents’ Control Office) and available through the City’s Online counter.

In addition to the already available Certificato di domicilio per soggiorno presso un altro Comune, citizens can now also digitally request the following documents:

• Certificato di domicilio o dimora senza indicazione di periodi
• Certificato di domicilio o dimora con indicazione di periodi
• Certificato di avvenuta notifica di partenza
• Certificato di avvenuta notifica di arrivo
• Dichiarazione di economia domestica

All certificates are available 24/7 and can be received either in traditional paper format or in digitally signed format with an official electronic seal, confirming their authenticity and ensuring their integrity.

This important enhancement of the Online counter confirms the City of Lugano’s commitment – in this case through the Servizi al cittadino unit (Citizen Services) – to strengthening and modernizing the delivery of digital public services. The goal is to simplify citizen access, make administrative procedures faster and more efficient, reduce operational costs, and gradually move away from paper documentation.
