(Meetings with neighborhood officers) The campaign of the City of Lugano Police to promote informal meetings between citizens and the officers operating in the various districts.

A strong local presence is one of the cornerstones of the Lugano City Police, which has relied for many years on neighborhood officers who play a crucial role thanks to a proactive approach based on prevention and early identification of problematic situations. The main mission of the neighborhood officer is to engage with people in order to enhance their subjective sense of security.

Since 2022, regular cycles of meetings have been organized in each neighborhood to offer residents an opportunity to get to know their officer in an informal setting, have conversations, request information, advice, or assistance. The goal is to eliminate the distance that can sometimes form between citizens and the police, who are often perceived as unapproachable or unavailable, even though they are there to serve the public.

In light of the positive results obtained so far, a new cycle of meetings, from 2 to 20 June 2025, has been confirmed. The meetings are held outdoors, mainly in squares, but also in front of schools, former municipal buildings, playgrounds, and some parking lots.

Meetings are also held in Melide, Muzzano, and Sorengo, as well as in the districts of Lugano.
