Lugano Carnival 2026

All citizens, children and adults alike, are invited to take part in the Carnival 2026 celebrations. An opportunity to come together, celebrate, and bring a smile to Piazza della Riforma and the streets of the city center.

On Thursday, 12 February 2026, as a tribute to all subscribers of Corriere del Ticino in the Lugano area, the traditional satirical booklet Ul Sbroja, an indispensable companion of Carnival, will be distributed. In the afternoon, at 2:00 p.m., the keys of the city will be handed over to King Sbroja, officially marking the start of the festivities. From 2:15 p.m. onwards, children and adults will be able to enjoy the colorful costume parade of pupils from local schools, a show that is always exciting and brings lively energy to the streets of the city center.

On Monday, 16 February 2026, the much-anticipated free risotto will take place in Piazza della Riforma, offered by Banca Raiffeisen and Corriere del Ticino starting at 11:30 a.m. A moment of sharing and fun for the whole city. In case of bad weather, the risotto event will be held at the Centro Esposizioni.
